It’s still wild to see how different we are now as a label than what we had originally intended. When we started we thought it would be like a distrokid accounts and some emails but we were super wrong haha. We all made experimental music and we all were friends through music. We started with 5 artists, me, Shane (Father of the Year), Funeral Homes, Haxxer, and Leave Nelson B. We realized that things are more accessible if we’re working together so we did. We had been ripped off and wanted to help our friends not get ripped off. John: We became friends with other artists and wanted to pool our interests and help each other out. What made you want to start a label? Who was your first signing? I spoke to John and Shane about what they love about running Lonely Ghost Records and what they have learned in the process. They are artist owned and describe themselves as a post-genre label, which is reflected in their diverse roster. Since its inception in 2018, Lonely Ghost has focused on creating a community. Lonely Ghost Records started out as a way for John and Shane to protect their friends from getting ripped off. High schoolers can be fucking goofy, but they didn’t make it over the top like most portrayals of goofy high schoolers do.Īnd it’s not just this scene! It’s almost every scene with bella and her human friends! I feel like the twilight movies, movies about literal vampires, portrayed actual every day highschool friend dynamics better than most movies/tv shows that don’t have a fantastical/supernatural element to them.Home > Your New Favorite Label: Lonely Ghost Records Your New Favorite Label: Lonely Ghost Recordsįirst Releases: Father of the Year, Funeral Homes, Haxxer, Leave Nelson B, SuperdestroyerĪrtists with recent releases: Superdestroyer, Nanl, (leave) nelson b, Hey, ily!, They seem like an actual group of friends. Like yeah all of this totally could’ve flopped but acting choices, even subtle ones, the actors made really made the scene feel real. Mike lightly roasting Eric some more and Eric defending himself. Bella’s “okay I’ll go if you stop saying that”. Jessica immediately roasting Eric! Angela providing more context and asking Bella to come in that super sincere voice. The surf pose Eric and Mike do when Eric says “and I don’t just surf the internet” The way the friends talk over and interrupt each other. Bella’s facial expression when he asks “La Push baby, you in?”

How awkward Eric is when he tries to seem cool, but he’s not over playing it. That part only lasts maybe 20 seconds but everything about it is so real. Then you have truly done your job to the best of your abilities” Where they feel awkward like they’re eavesdropping on a conversation that they aren’t part of. If you can achieve that, those moments where they’re fully immersed. Make them forget that you’re playing a part.

Make the audience feel like they aren’t watching actors on a screen. If the audience or viewers can watch and feel like they’re looking through a window at a real conversation between real people, then that is the best acting.
LONELY GHOST HOW TO
I took acting classes for my entire childhood and we were always taught: good acting isn’t just knowing how to cry on cue. Nobody is delivering an intense brooding dramatic monologue. Yeah maybe it’s not going to win any oscars. It only lasts like 10 seconds, but it’s so … real. One of my favorite little moments of the movies is actually the little friend group part of the “La Push baby, it’s La Push” scene.
